The Loire Estuary

From Nantes to Saint-Nazaire, the estuary offers landscapes where nature and humankind jostle for space on the riverbanks.

In the space of about fifty kilometers, travel from Nantes, the vast, bustling city, to the calm, wild, and fragile Loire estuary!

Maritime activity was intense here until the 18th century, when ships brought goods upriver to Nantes.

Since 2007, the banks of the Loire estuary have flourished with a unique collection of monumental contemporary works by international artists. During your bike ride, don't be surprised to come across a Maison dans la Loire, a floating boat, or a starry garden! A disconcerting journey that punctuates and spices up your itinerary.
