Domaine du Roc de Saint-André

Stay in a tree house – get back to nature

In some large beech trees, you’ll find two little tree houses perched above the Domaine du Roc de Saint-André. Drift off to sleep with the wind singing through the branches and awake in the morning to the gentle calls of birds. A deck connects the two cabins, making it a great choice for families!

Manoir de l’Espérance

Stay in a fishing cabin

Along the route of La Vélodyssée, you will see quite a few fishing cabins on stilts, traditionally used for fishing plaice, a common catch in the estuaries of the Loire, Charente-Maritime, and Gironde departments of France. In Corsept, at the Manoir de l’Espérance (Hope Manor), you can sleep in a fishing cabin surrounded by maritime pines on the grounds of the Manor.

Camping Aux Couleurs du Ferret

Stay in a holiday cottage typical of Arcachon Bay

As you pedal around Arcachon Bay, you will spot a number of cottages on stilts. Particularly common on the Ile aux Oiseaux (Bird Island), these wooden cabins on stilts were once used to attend to oyster beds. The campsite Aux Couleurs du Ferret offers such cottages on stilts for two to five people.
