Our top tips for enjoying an unusual break
For a complete disconnection, treat yourself to a nature break in a cabin during your cycling trip. On the ground or in the air, in the heart of a forest, by the sea or a river...it doesn't matter, this break will be beneficial!
Stay in a tree house – get back to nature
In some large beech trees, you’ll find two little tree houses perched above the Domaine du Roc de Saint-André. Drift off to sleep with the wind singing through the branches and awake in the morning to the gentle calls of birds. A deck connects the two cabins, making it a great choice for families!
- €65 with breakfast
- Bonus: Breakfast is included and is served on the deck at the time of your choosing

Stay in a fishing cabin
Along the route of La Vélodyssée, you will see quite a few fishing cabins on stilts, traditionally used for fishing plaice, a common catch in the estuaries of the Loire, Charente-Maritime, and Gironde departments of France. In Corsept, at the Manoir de l’Espérance (Hope Manor), you can sleep in a fishing cabin surrounded by maritime pines on the grounds of the Manor.
- €100 with breakfast
- Bonus: When you call for it, using a foghorn, your breakfast will be served in a fisher’s basket. All you have to do is haul it up to your cabin using a hoist just like those used for raising and lowering plaice.

Stay in a tent-cottage hybrid
If you’re looking for a cycling holiday cottage, but also like the idea of camping in a tent, we have the perfect place for you: the ‘Cabadienne’ (named off of a play on words in French combining ‘cabin’ and ‘Canadian tent’). The Le Chaponnet campsite offers this 10-m² accommodation with two single beds and electricity included so you can charge all your devices.
- €32
- Bonus: A table and chairs made of wood and covered by a canopy

- From €35 to €122
- Bonus: A human-scale campsite in a calm, verdant, natural setting, surrounded by dozens of varieties of trees, in the heart of a 2.5-hectare forest.
