Good practice 👍
For short or medium stops (about 2 hours), it is important to lock your bike properly. More and more cities are providing guarded covered parking or lockable boxes. If you can't find this type of facility, use bike racks or stands to park your bike. A bike leaning against a wall is far more tempting than one locked to a fixed point!
How do you lock your bike to a bike rack?
- You need to be able to secure the bike frame first and a wheel
- Use strong locks (D-locks with keys are preferred)
- Avoid deserted, poorly visible places
- Remember to take easily detachable accessories with you

For longer breaks
For longer breaks, choose lockable boxes where you can also store your panniers.
🔐 Think about it before you go: bring one or more small padlocks, they will be useful for some types of closed parking.
