Day 1: Messanges <> Léon (37 km round trip)

Welcome to the Accueil VĂ©lo accredited Club Famille Lou Pignada campsite. Leave your car for a while and get ready for a 100% cycling holiday! To start your journey, set off with the family towards LĂ©on. Here you join La VĂ©lodyssĂ©e and cycle 10 kilometres before stopping for a tasty break at the Tenoy farmhouse inn. All inclinations are catered for in this natural spot. A kids’ playground is also available on the lakeside. After that, head back to cycle track and make for the Moliets beach just 10km away. Sink your toes into the sand and succumb to the indulgence of a delicious waffle

Day 3: Seignosse <> Capbreton (32 km round trip)

Just a few kilometres away is the seaside resort of Hossegor. Make the most of this half-way break to have a drink and to immerse yourselves in the laid-back atmosphere of the capital of surf.

Continue your ride to Capbreton, the friendly, bustling resort of the Landes. Take a seat on the ocean-facing terrace of the Belharra CafĂ© and enjoy the sea view.  From your table admire the Capbreton estuary, the pier, the fine sandy beaches and the distant stone bunkers.

On the way back, give yourselves a change! At Avenue Paul Lahary, leave La VĂ©lodyssĂ©e for a while and take a local 3.5 km cycle track to see the other side of Hossegor Lake. If you lingered a while at Capbreton, it may be time for supper, so why not try the cuisine at the La TĂ©trade CĂŽtĂ© Lac restaurant?

You return to the Les 2 Etangs camp site in Seignosse for a 2nd night. If it’s not too late, the kids could have a last splash in the camp site’s water park before they finally retire to drift off into the Land of Nod.

But before ending your stay, make the most of your last family moments in the Landes. Why not try learning to surf with the kids? Vieux-Boucau and its surf schools are just waiting to help you tame the waves! So slip into a wetsuit and go for it!

La VĂ©lodyssĂ©e now heading north, advances to a few hundred yards from the CĂŽte d’Argent, gradually getting closer to Moliets-et-MĂąa and Messanges. The route finally meets the powerful ocean at Vieux-Boucau, the former port (until the river Adour was re-routed to Bayonne in 1578) and today a very pleasant stopping point. Here La VĂ©lodyssĂ©e sails past the iconic seaside, surfing and health resorts of Hossegor and Capbreton. These two towns are separated by the Boudigau - the redirected former Adour River – but their names are linked by their proximity and their huge popularity with tourists in the central areas of the Landes.
