A family cycling holiday
From Nantes to Bidart in 20 days on a family adventure
A family that considers itself active, but not big on cycling; goal oriented, but not adventurous, decided to go off on their own biking odyssey.
Blandine and Nicolas are fans of hiking and the outdoors. Since 2014, they’ve been going on family cycling holidays with their sons Quentin, Baptiste, and Matthieu. After travelling the Canal du Midi, a tour of Brittany, through Switzerland, and along the Danube, they decided to take their family adventure to La Vélodyssée.
On their programme: 900 km between Nantes and Bidart in 20 days, with an average of 45 to 50 km per day.
Slowing down and changing it up
For our family, the number-one reason why we decided to go on family cycling holidays is to slow things down and change things up from our hectic everyday lives.
When you wish upon a star
We’ve all dreamed of having a thousand lives...
Some days, life offers us the possibility of living a thousand and one!
You leave the next morning still dreaming from a magical night under the stars :)
To the sound of the cicadas of Gironde
This long, unbroken path may look monotonous to you, but for us it was a delight, with both tranquillity and amusement. We slalomed, raced each other, and did other tricks with the cicadas of Gironde as our soundtrack and with the heady odour of resinous trees.
Our family adventure takes us to Basque Country
We saw surfers coming down the dunes on their way back from their morning session. Through Seignosse, Capbreton, Labenne, and Tarnos, we peacefully followed the path, which alternates between urban areas and some of the last stretches of forest. The first pediments appeared and then the unique architecture of the houses confirmed to us that we had reached Basque Country.
