Avenue Jacques Demy 17300 Rochefort
Built by Ferdinand Arnodin in 1900, the Pont Transbordeur, (a masterpiece of metallic architecture), is the last working construction of its type in France.
Towering 50m above the Charente, the bridge crossed the river without disturbing inland navigation between the Arsenal, the port, and the estuary.

Emblem of the Great Site of the Estuary of the Charente - Arsenal of Rochefort, it is a masterpiece of the metallic architecture and the last work of this type in France.

From 2016 until spring 2019, the crossings are interrupted due to restoration work on the monument.
